How to Solve 3×3 Rubik’s Cube? Easiest way explained!

So…. you have started to learn to solve 3×3 Rubik’s Cube and looking for the solutions to it? Here you go!! I would like to remind you, there is no easy way to solve it unless you open it with the screwdriver. Oh! hey wait, that’s the toughest way to solve your cube 😉

Steps to Solve the 3×3 Rubik’s Cube

Solving a Rubik’s Cube is a tricky job and needs a lot of practice. But, once have you mastered the technique right, you can take pride and flaunt your talent in front of your friends. 😀
Sounds cool, isn’t it? Let’s get started.

Step 1

Create a cross touching the second layer of the cube.

You have to first learn some replacement techniques.
Play around with your cube and get to know the edge, corners, and centerpieces.
There are no specific formulae for step#1, but trust me, you will learn to do it by yourself working on step 1. Also get yourself familiarized with the sides of the cube like right, up, left, down, etc.

For example, R means to turn the right face clockwise and Ri means to turn the right face anti-clockwise. In the first step, I am trying to build a middle cross here with Red on at the top (facing me). The cross has to be in such a way that it touches the second layer as shown in the picture above.

Step 2

Solve the 1st layer fully by using the formula of replacement – i.e.

Ri Di R D

Here the replacement technique which you have practiced and mastered will come in handy.

As you can see, I have completed the first layer with the help of solving a cross and replacement technique. It is very crucial that you master the replacement technique to solve the cube faster and faster. Use both your hands and practice it! It’s fun.

Step 3

Let’s Start solving the Second Layer! The Second layer replacement technique is a little bit complex. You have to concentrate on bringing the edges from the bottom face to either the left or right of the middle layer. Yes, This layer also needs a lot and lots of practice. but once you are an expert, your hands will do the job 😉 Here go the formulae –

To replace bottom-middle and 2nd layer left side use –

D L D Li Di Fi Di F

Similarly, To replace the bottom-middle and 2nd layer right side use –

Di Ri Di R D F D Fi

The trick is to match the colors in the middle to the last layer’s middle edge. By this, The second layer gets completed!!

Step 4

Turn it upside down and create a cross.

Start solving the third layer by turning the cube upside-down

First Make a cross only on the (now turned) top layer

Use this Algorithm or formulae depending on the situation of the cube to create a cross in the third layer of the cube –

Step 5

Solve the cross once more. By this, we mean that the 3rd Layer includes 3- 4 steps depending on the situation. You have to connect the top cross to the middle cross by using this algorithm-

R U U Ri Ui R Ui Ri

At this stage, the 3rd layer step 2 is done. Let’s move to the next step.

Step 6

Arrange the corners.

You can Arrange corner edges by following this Algorithm –

Li U R Ui L U Ri Ui

Once corner edges are in place, you are almost there! Take a breath and relax. Then proceed to the last and final step.

Step 7

Solve the final corners. Note that, while doing this step you will see the whole cube is getting disturbed. But, hold on, do not panic. Just go with the algorithm and you will be able to finally make it.

1. Use the replacement technique to match the cube – Ri Di R D
2. Bring the other unmatched corner towards you by moving anti-clockwise
3. Repeat 1 & 2 till the last unmatched corners

and Tadaaaa…!! finally, you are done (y). You have made it. Pat yourself and Repeat to increase your proficiency. Have fun with your Rubik’s cube 🙂 All the best!!
