Why it is important to have the right tyre pressure in the car?

Tyre pressure is important for safety and fuel efficiency. Other than that, it is very important for the following point of view-

Safety

Properly inflated tires improve your car’s handling and grip on the road. This is especially important during braking, cornering, and driving in bad weather. Under-inflated tires can lead to blowouts, which can cause accidents. Studies have shown that around 40% of car accidents are related to underinflated tires

Fuel Efficiency

Under-inflated tires create more friction with the road, which means your car has to work harder to maintain speed. This can lead to a decrease in fuel efficiency of up to 5%

Tyre Wear & Tear

Incorrect tire pressure can cause uneven tire wear, which shortens the lifespan of your tires. Under-inflated tires will wear on the edges, while over-inflated tires will wear in the center.

Comfort

Correctly inflated tires provide a smoother ride by reducing vibrations from the road

Here are some additional tips for maintaining proper tire pressure:

  • Check your tyre pressure regularly, at least once a month, and before long trips.
  • Consult your car’s owner’s manual for the recommended tire pressure. This information is usually located on a sticker inside the driver’s door jamb or in the glove compartment.
  • Tire pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) or kPa (kilopascals).
  • Don’t forget to check the pressure in your spare tire!
