Tyre pressure is important for safety and fuel efficiency. Other than that, it is very important for the following point of view-
Safety
Properly inflated tires improve your car’s handling and grip on the road. This is especially important during braking, cornering, and driving in bad weather. Under-inflated tires can lead to blowouts, which can cause accidents. Studies have shown that around 40% of car accidents are related to underinflated tires
Fuel Efficiency
Under-inflated tires create more friction with the road, which means your car has to work harder to maintain speed. This can lead to a decrease in fuel efficiency of up to 5%
Tyre Wear & Tear
Incorrect tire pressure can cause uneven tire wear, which shortens the lifespan of your tires. Under-inflated tires will wear on the edges, while over-inflated tires will wear in the center.
Comfort
Correctly inflated tires provide a smoother ride by reducing vibrations from the road
Here are some additional tips for maintaining proper tire pressure:
- Check your tyre pressure regularly, at least once a month, and before long trips.
- Consult your car’s owner’s manual for the recommended tire pressure. This information is usually located on a sticker inside the driver’s door jamb or in the glove compartment.
- Tire pressure is measured in PSI (pounds per square inch) or kPa (kilopascals).
- Don’t forget to check the pressure in your spare tire!
